When J.B. McReynolds was just sixteen years old he quit high school only to pump gas at a local service station. After a year of that he decided he did not want to do that all his life so J.B. got a job at Bristol Motor, Co., a Buick dealership, working on the grease rack. Every spare minute he helped the mechanics so he could learn the trade. J.B. worked there until the car dealership closed in 1959. He went to work for a short time at another franchise dealership before going to work full time at his dad's service station until 1965. It was not until 1967 when he was working as a mechanic at a franchise dealership when he was promoted to a sales position that he began his career in sales.

During all of this period whenever J.B. had spare time he was fixing up cars at his house and reselling them. In 1973 he decided that if he was ever going to go into business for himself, now was the time. Mr. McReynolds borrowed $5,000 and a partner of his did the same. Together the two of them went into the wholesale and repair business and opened Country Auto Sales, Inc. for business in 1973. For the first few years they concentrated on body repair, service work, and wholesaling cars. In 1977 the two of them began retailing cars to the citizens of Bristol, VA and the surrounding Tennessee and Virginia communities. In 1979, J.B. McReynolds bought out his partner and today he is proud of his accomplishments at Country Auto Sales.

All three of J.B.'s sons worked for him at the dealership when they were teenagers. All three of them took to the used car industry likes ducks to water! One of them recently opened his own dealership in Bristol and the other two, Darrin and Greg, share the day-to-day responsibilities of Country Auto Sales. Between the three of them there is not a person in the area they do not know. They are well known and respected in the community as fair and honest car dealers.

J.B. has proudly served in just about every office possible in Virginia Independent Dealers Association (VIADA), an association of used car dealers committed to fair business practices and the improvement of the used car industry image. In 2003 his dealership won the Quality Dealer of the Year Award which is bestowed upon one member of the association by all other members. J.B. is respected not only in his community but also by his peers in his industry all around Virginia. He, his boys, and their families all attend Victory Baptist Church. J.B. is an honorary Life member of the FFA and has supported many local charities including the American Cancer Society.

Mr. McReynolds and his boys have been selling cars at Country Auto Sales for over three decades. J.B. is proud of what he and his family has achieved and are always going out of their way to help customers and employees alike.
